Food Blog of the Month: Afroculinaria

Afroculinaria is, in the author’s words, “a food blog authored by Michael W. Twitty, a food writer, independent scholar, culinary historian, and historical interpreter, personally charged with preparing, preserving and promoting African American foodways and its parent traditions in Africa and her Diaspora and its legacy in the food culture of the American South.”

It is a deeply interesting look at a type of cuisine that has shaped America in so many ways. It gets fairly political at times, but that’s a good thing. Part of what makes food so special is that it’s the best way to understand where people come from.
